Iceland is a land of many wonders, and one of its most unique features is the Vatnahökull Glacier. If you have ever wondered if you could do a unique Glamping in Iceland and combine it with a glacier walk this would be something you don’t want to miss. On this trip, you’ll have the opportunity to sleep in a canvas tent with a very nice made-up bed and hike on this incredible glacier in a remote outlet called Fláajökull. On top of it all, you can barbeque in the evening and have a very nice time in the gathering tent.
This one-day and one-night Glamping and glacier walk tour will begin from the Haukafell camping site. You will arrive at the meeting point, Haukafell camping site, before 11:00.
We will show you your canvas tent that is 16m2 and can capacity up to 4 persons. After that, we will have a meeting in the gathering tent and go over the plans for the glacier hike. The gathering tents will be our common area where we will enjoy our meetings, barbeque, and night gatherings.
The Glacier Walk – Vatnajökull outlet: Fláajökull
When everyone is ready we will walk from the camping site about 4 km to a remote stunning area the glacier has been forming, a small glacier lagoon, where Fláajökul glacier carves slowly into. When we are at the edge of the glacier we will prepare for a glacier walk on a remote glacier where there is no organized glacier walk by other companies. We will put on all the safety gear and learn how to walk on the glacier before we start to explore this stunning glacier.
After a nice time exploring the glacier and enjoying nature we will head back to the camping site. Where we will go over the day and you can start preparing your BBQ (if you have one with you) and spend some time in the gathering tent.
The hike is about 12 km elevation about 450 meters.
Very important is that everyone is part of the team and we all help each other out to prepare for the glacier walk. We work to gather to make things more joyful, and safe, and first of all to learn from and know each other better.
Grab your backpack and come along to experience nature at its purest. Check availability by choosing a date.
