Booking & getting there

Where do we meet?

At the main parking area by Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, close to the lagoon itself. The drive from Reykjavík takes around 5 hours along Route 1.

Do you offer pickup from Reykjavík?

No. Our tours start at Jökulsárlón in southeast Iceland, so you need to arrange your own transport to the meeting point.

When is the ice cave season?

Our natural ice cave tours normally run from October to April, when glacier conditions allow safe access.

What happens if conditions are unsafe?

Our guides assess the weather, roads and glacier conditions each morning. If we cancel for safety reasons, you can reschedule or receive a full refund.

What should I wear?

Warm outdoor layers, waterproof clothing and sturdy hiking shoes are recommended. We provide the glacier safety equipment needed for the tour.

How long is the Jökulsárlón ice cave tour?

The tour takes about 2.5–3 hours in total, depending on weather, road and glacier conditions.

Where does the ice cave tour start?

The tour starts at the main parking area by Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon in southeast Iceland. Guests should arrive at least 20 minutes before departure.

Is this tour suitable for beginners?

Yes, for most guests in good health. The walk is usually short and has no major elevation gain, but the terrain can be icy, uneven and weather-exposed.

What should I wear?

Wear warm layers, waterproof outerwear, gloves, a hat and sturdy hiking boots with ankle support. We provide micro spikes (when needed), helmet and other safety equipment.

What is included in the tour?

A local glacier guide, Super Jeep transport from Jökulsárlón to the glacier area and back, micro spikes (when needed), helmet and other safety equipment.

Are the ice caves natural?

Yes. The caves we visit are naturally formed inside Vatnajökull. Their shape, colour and access route can change through the season.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Our guides make a safety decision based on weather, roads and glacier conditions. If we cancel for safety reasons, you can reschedule or receive a full refund.

How long is Adventures Dream?

Adventures Dream takes about 5–6 hours in total, depending on weather, road and glacier conditions.

What is the difference between Adventures Dream and the short ice cave tour?

Adventures Dream includes a longer glacier hike, a smaller group of max 8 guests and more time on the ice. The short tour is 2.5–3 hours and focuses mainly on visiting the ice cave.

The tour starts at the main parking area by Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon in southeast Iceland. Guests should arrive at least 30 minutes before departure.

Is this tour difficult?

The tour is moderate and suitable for guests in good health. You should be comfortable walking on uneven, icy and winter-exposed terrain.

What should I wear?

Wear warm layers, waterproof outerwear, gloves, a hat and sturdy hiking boots with ankle support. We provide the glacier safety equipment needed for the tour.

What is included?

An experienced glacier guide, Super Jeep transport from Jökulsárlón to the glacier area and back, a natural ice cave visit, a guided glacier hike, crampons, helmet, harness and safety equipment.

Your private tour is guided by Sindri, a local guide from southeast Iceland with more than a decade of experience guiding ice cave tours, glacier hikes and private trips around Vatnajökull.

Can I book this tour online?

No. This tour is available by request only. Please fill out the request form or email us with your preferred date, group size and what kind of experience you are looking for.

Is this a summer tour only?

Yes. This private tour is designed for the summer season. Winter private ice cave or photography requests can be handled separately.

How long is the private tour?

A normal private day is 6–8 hours. Multi-day tours can also be arranged by request.

What can we do on a private tour?

The day can be built around a Super Jeep tour, private glacier hike, photography, local landscapes, quieter viewpoints or a combination of these. Sindri will suggest a route based on your interests, the weather and the conditions on the day.

Is the private tour price per person?

No. The price is for the private tour day. Final details depend on the group size, route and activity type.
